The Beginning of The End... Of Slavery
By Gloria
Over Europe and America, people started realizing that maybe slavery was wrong. There was an organization that specifically spoke out against slavery, called the Abolitionists. But, some people 'needed' slaves, to keep their plantations and farms going strong. But there were too many people who realized slavery was wrong. In 1807, the British Parliament passed a law that stated no British ships were allowed to buy slaves from African slave posts, and sell them, basically outlawing slave trade. In 1808, the United States government passed the same law. But slavery was still legal until, in 1833, the British government made slavery illegal. But slaves wouldn't be free over in the United States for a little while longer.

People all over the world were starting to question "why?" and "how?"  How does the world work? Why do we keep slaves? Why do objects fall? How does a river move? Nowadays, in 2013, we usually ask "why?" and "how?", and even little kids want to know things like "how does the world spin?" (given to me by Hannah). We need to know. A question that I have: is this a good thing or a bad?
