Poll: 2 in 5 Women Consider Parenting Single
 Gloria
  Current Event
42% of women say that they wouldn't mind raising children without a spouse. They believe that they can raise a family without a male in the house.
I don't like this. A kid needs two parents. For anyone who is saying that this generation has gone awry, remember who's raising us. Those adults want to raise us to believe that situations like this are fine. Genesis 2:24 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." God meant for a man and woman to get married, then raise their children together.
It's another show of the ungodliness of society. The world is getting worse. Nobody listens to God's commands anymore.
The Spanish-American War
 Gloria
  History
Spain had colonies all over the world, including the Philippines. But a lot of the people in these colonies wanted freedom. People were begging America to step in and do something. So, America went to war with Spain. In the end, America got some of the Spanish colonies, including the Philippines. But, the people in the Philippines fought the Americans for three more years.

My two problems with this: First, another war. This wasn't America's fight. They were trying to help, yes, but did they need to go about it fighting? Second, the war was solved when some of the colonies came as protectorates of America. They wanted to be free, not coming under a stronger government.
Escape From Warswaw

  Reading
Escape From Warswaw is a book about four children and their arduous journey from Warswaw to Switzerland in search of their parents. The story takes place during and after World War II.
I enjoyed this book. The language and wording made some parts a bit awkward, but I enjoyed reading it. I liked how well-rounded the characters were, and how they developed. I give this book a 10/10.
Title Bout

Titles are important parts in a book. For example, I might have read The 39 Clues series sooner if the title of the first book wasn't Maze of Bones. I don't like reading horror stories, so I avoided the series. Finally, I decided, that since it was written by Rick Riordan, whose books weren't too terrifying, it might be worth a shot. Another example is the Maximum Ride series. One of the books in the series is named Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports. That title was very attention-catching, and made me want to read the book. This week, I got the assignment to evaluate the title of the book Snow Treasure by Marie Mcswiggan.
Snow Treasure is a book about World War II, set in a town the Germans occupied that held all of Norway's gold. The Germans weren't completely sure where the gold was in Norway, so the children of the town were able to smuggle the gold out of the city by sitting on it while they sledded out of the town, and then buried the gold in the snow.
Snow Treasure seems like an appropriate name. It's a book about a treasure that was hidden in the snow. Another name that might fit is They'll Never Suspect Children or Sledding With Gold. But I think that the name Snow Treasure is very fitting. It grabs my attention because I think "What treasure?" "Is the treasure snow?" "What goes on in this book?". I don't think that I'd want to read the book as much if it was called Smuggling Gold Out of Norway On Sleds. That gives it all away and makes it sound boring.
Through this paper, I've talked about why titles are important, and how the title Snow Treasure is a fitting name for the book. Titles always have been, and always will be, an important part of any book.
